What to expect...
In second grade, we work hard on our decoding skills and reading fluency. We also get to explore many different genres. We concentrate on developing our vocabulary and grammar and practice those skills when we write our own poetry. Our favorite way to start writing paragraphs is with our fall field trip to Evan's Family Ranch. We use that experience to gather information and spend time organizing it in a detailed paragraph. We learn so many life-long skills in math as well.
We explore and learn so much about our faith in 2nd grade, too! We learn through parables and build a friendship with Jesus and understand more about the Mass. Near the end of the school year, we celebrate First Reconciliation, a Jesus Day Retreat, and First Holy Communion.
By the end of the year, 2nd graders will be writing in cursive!
