What to expect...
In fourth grade, the focus shifts from learning to read to reading to learn. Students work hard to develop good study skills and habits. Students begin reading primarily chapter books and have nightly reading assignments to complete on their own. In math, a variety of skills are reviewed and two-two-digit by two-digit multiplication and long division are taught. Students are expected to memorize all facts with an emphasis on multiplication and division. In religion, the curriculum centers around human dignity and the Ten Commandments. Fourth graders also have a full social studies and science curriculum, including STEM activities. Ultimately, in fourth grade, the responsibility of learning shifts to the students. It is a joy to watch them grow and become life-long learners!
