WELCOME TO FIFTH GRADE!
Fifth grade is a unique grade, indeed! Our students are no longer primary learners, but they are not quite ready for junior high either. Fifth grade is what we often refer to as a fine-tuning year. We work hard to help the students develop study and work habits that will work for them not only as fifth graders but also as they move into future learning endeavors. If the students develop solid patterns in fifth grade, they don’t typically run into struggles down the road. We try to make fifth grade a fun year of hands–on, active learning with a lot of projects, activities, and group work to enhance what we are learning in the classroom. One of the highlights of the fifth-grade year includes an opportunity to join band and choir. The fifth graders also participate in a program called Concentrating on Positive Stuff where an officer from the Huber Heights Police Department comes into the classroom and works with the students to educate them on personal safety and good choices for a happy life! We love fifth grade!
